The Castle of San Felipe de Barajas is a fortress built in 1536 by the Spanish to defend the city of Cartagena. The construction was done by slaves and lasted a total of 121 years. E 'was built on the hill of San Lázaro. The fort overlooked both the bay and the city. This led several invasions of the city impossible. Edward Vernon in 1741 tried to take the city, who had an army of 23,600 men and 186 boats. The guns of the boats of the English could only reach the outer walls of defense.
