Rocca d'Anfo is a military fortification built in 1400 to Anfo, on the shores of Lake Hydro, in Sabbia Valley in the province of Brescia. The complex presides over a kilometer of the shore of the lake while the rest is spread from the slopes of Mount Censo up almost to its summit.
The fortress lost its defensive function becoming a barracks for the conscripts training and later a prison and powder magazine.
The fortress includes a trench and a barracks called Old Fortress. From the elevated gatehouse, he dominated the entire Lake Hydro and through the vents allowed to cope well in advance of the enemy.
A series of trenches and pitches, ramps and covered roads, powder magazines, stables and military housing have made the fortress of Anfo one of the best examples of military architecture from the defense.
Since 2005 the municipal administration of Anfo and the mountain community of Sand Valley conducted a program of restoration and recovery of the historical and cultural heritage that is the Rock.
