Edinburgh Castle is a majestic landmark which dominates the skyline of the capital as well as in the past dominated the long and colorful history of Scotland and today is the most famous historic site and visited Scotland.
Perched on an extinct volcano, it offers a breathtaking panorama of the city and hosts many events such as the Edinburgh International Festival and the Military Tattoo. This fortress is a very strong national symbol and is part of the Edinburgh's World Heritage Site.
The castle is the result of a rich mix of architectural styles reflecting both its complex history dche his role as fortress and seat of kings. The small chapel of St. Margaret is the oldest building in Edinburgh and dates back to 1100.
