Dunnottar Castle (Scotland)
Aberdeenshire See list of castles in Scozia
The immense fortress of Dunnottar Castle is one of the most evocative castles in ruins and fascinating Scotland.
Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea, challenge the waves and the force of the winds on three sides and is only accessible via a steep path.
The landscape and the glance make a picture postcard setting that adds to the reputation of the place: in fact, the castle was the scene of one of the bloodiest pages of the Scottish struggle for independence. Here the leader William Wallace caught by stratagem an entire English garrison that was entirely burned alive.
