It is among the monuments included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the Middle Ages the castle was also an important center of German poetry of Minnesang. Several times a center of important events in the history of politics and German culture is one of the most interesting tourist destinations of Thuringia and attracts a growing number of tourists.
